Assessor's Report accepted as presented, no problems noted. <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich co,~ented regarding the public hearin§ on the Wild and Scenic <br />Rivers that has been cancelled due to an amenchnent plan and that this will be <br />reschedu]ed for sometime in January after receipt of the amendment. <br /> <br />COUNCIL OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />LEE'S LANDSCAPING & NURSERY REQUEST FOR A T~{PORARY SIGN PERMIT <br /> <br />Councilman Cox noted that this is a new business in the City and if the sign <br />permit is to be approved, they are not to expect to get approval for the sign <br />next year because once there are more bussinesses in the area, this type of <br />sign display could become a problem. <br /> <br />Counci]~m Reimann commented that as long as it is zoned for Conmercial <br />business and if the .City wants to promote business in the Community, perhaps a <br />conununity sign could be installed. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox concurred with that idea and said that would be much better <br />than having a lot of signs scattered all over. He said he isn't against <br />si~s perse but is against signs for businesses that aren't even located. <br />in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann suggested that the various business establishments get <br />together and consider the conununity billboard proposal and submit a plan to <br />the Cmmcil of what they would like to install for advertising of their <br />businesses. <br /> <br />A~nJnistrator Schnelle said he had seen this billboard sign method quite <br />effectively used at Eden Frairie. <br /> <br />Mot:ion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Reimann to grant <br />permiss]on for Lee's Landscaping & Nursery to install a temporary 4 foot <br />X 2 foot sign on Co. Rd. 5 & 47 from now until January 5, 1979, for the <br />Christmas season because this is a new business in the community and the <br />City wishes to be supportive in helping them inform people of their existence. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: rayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann <br />and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />Ma):or Gamec suggested Mrs. Crawley consider putting up a similar billboard type <br />sign on Industry Boulevard and getting together with those businesses in the <br />Industrial park on a joint effort because they have indicated a similar desire. <br /> <br />1978 AUDIT REPORT <br /> <br />Mr. John Lilja of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells; was present to go over the <br />1978 City Audit with the Councilmembers. He said he has no particular <br />concerns about the City's funds and that finances are in good order. He <br />compl~mented the staff for the progress they have made during the year in <br />the financial department.
