There was further discussion on the motion submitted by Commissioner
Schmidt.

Commissioner Cox felt that the motion should reserve the right re-
garding what type of facilities should be included.

Commissioner Menkveld stated that the City has an assessment policy
regulating that.

Mr. Tom Renner stated that the Board would look favorably on shrinking
the size down, away from residential areas.

Commissioner Cox stated that there are still a number of people that
object to sewer coming into Ramsey and would like it noted that by
supporting this motion, it does not indicate that we are encouraging
development of sewer.

Commissioner Schneider stated that he feels he does not have enough
information to vote on the motion.

Commissioners Sentyrz and Guy agreed.

Commissioner Schmidt stated that that's why he offered the motion, so
that we could get a start somewhere. He just wanted to be a voice for
development.

Commissioner Schmidt resubmitted his motion.

Motion failed for lack of a majority. Voting yes: Commissioners Schmidt,
Greenberg, Miller and Menkveld. Voting no: Commissioners Cox, Guy,
Schneider and Sentyrz.

Commissioner Cox stated that he's not saying he's disagreeing, he just
needs some time.

Ms. Moore stated that it's not necessary to rush into a motion. Wait
until you have more information.

City Administrator Schnelle stated that the Commission should have a
special meeting to discuss this further.

Commissioner Cox reiterated that he generally supports Commissioner
Schmidt's comments.

Motion by Commissioner Schmidt and seconded by Commissioner Cox to
have a special Economic Development Commission meeting on Tuesday,
March 22, 1983 at 7:30 a.m. to discuss hazardous waste and finish the
remaining items on the agenda, namely the LDC.

Motion carried. Voting yes: Commissioners Schmidt, Cox, Schneider,
Guy, Miller, Menkveld, Sentyrz, and Greenberg. Voting no: None.

Commissionmembers are encouraged to attend the hazardous waste site
public hearings on Monday, March 21, 1983 at the City Hall at 1:00 p.m.
and 7:30 p.m.

EDC/March 9, 1983
