City Administrator Schnelle said there is a lawsuit in progress with <br />Ramsey against the City of Anoka on the landfill. <br /> <br />County Commissioner Ed Fields and staff will be here to discuss the issue <br />of the landfill with the City Council. Commission members are to be sure <br />and call Mayor Gamec, Councilmember Cox or the City Attorney Goodrich if <br />there are any questions. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg said he heard a rumor regarding the landfill and want <br />clarification on the status. Is there a moratorium on building or is <br />there going to be an expansion of the landfill? <br /> <br />There was a general discussion regarding the landfill and the possible ex- <br />pansion of it. The general feeling of the Economic Development Commission <br />is that we should become involved. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle recommended the Commission attend the June 16, <br />1982 meeting and ask their questions there. It begins at 7:30 P.M. As <br />the Ramsey City Council what they are going to do regarding the landfill <br />issue. <br /> <br />COmmissioner Schmidt left the meeting at 8:46 A.M. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg stated he thought he would attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Guy said she feels people should be aware of what is going on. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults said that it is very hard to make people aware of things <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg stated the landfill is a big issue. The Economic sub- <br />committee should put some ideas together to form some kind of an organization, <br />such as a Chamber of Commerce and have them ready for the next meeting in <br />July. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle stated the City Council is to be taking action <br />on forming an ad hoc committee concerning sewer and the assessment procedures. <br />He is recommending there be at least two to three people from the Economic <br />Development Commission on that committee. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Muller and seconded by Commissioner Jensen to recommend <br />Commissioner Fults, Commissioner Menkveld and Commissioner Miller to the <br />Ramsey City Council to serve on the newly formed Ad Hoc Sewer Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes Commissioner Greenberg, Menkveld, Guy, Muller, <br />Schmidt, Sentryz, Jensen, Fults and Schneider.
