PROCEEDINGS OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Chairman Donald Greenberg called the special ~aeting of the Ramsey Economic <br />Development Commission to order at 7:38 a.m. at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW, Ramsey ~[nnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Donald Greenberg <br />Astrid Guy <br />Steve Schmid~ <br />Bill Miller <br />Jack Menkveld <br />Darryl Fults <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Joe Sentryz <br />Darrell Jensen <br />Robert Muller <br />Jack Schneider <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamee <br />Councilmember 2~nold Cox <br />City Administrator Lloyd G. Schnelle <br />Jim Luchine, State EDC <br />Lawrence Keillor <br />Clem Gruber <br />Jean Schlueter <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />There was no Citizen Input. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Menkveld and seconded by Commissioner Guy to approve the <br />Economic Developrmant Commission agenda as present and to take the items in reverse <br />order. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Commissioners Greenberg, Menkveld, Guy, Fults, Miller <br />and Schmidt. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Luchine from the State Economic Development Commission thanked the members <br />of the Ramsey Commission for inviting him to Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Luchine stated that there were two important steps for Ramsey to take. First <br />a community profile on Ramsey is needed. This is the first step to relate to <br />Ramsey. It would be objective data on our City. This we should get to their <br />department as soon as possible. <br /> <br />Next, an industrial park profile is needed. Objective data is needed in the City <br />of Ramsey. This is only a suggestion to promote economic development. Mr. Luchine <br />suggested Ramsey work toward the Star Cities program. This would encourage well- <br />planned local development as well as being a self help process. Mr. Luchine stated <br />that by the creation of the EDC, it was the first step. Recognition by Council is <br />also very important to the success of the Commission. In the formation of the LDC, <br />Mr. Luchine stated that Ramsey has one in some form.
