RAMSEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT City of Ramsey Anoka County State of Minnesota Mr. Lawrence Keillor presided. The meeting was called to order at 7745 P.M. Present were: A1 Sorteberg, Mike Kovar, Lawrence Keillor, Steve Sc~idt, Don Greenberg, Jack Menkveld, Al Bullick, Arnold Cox, Dick Carson, Tom Gamec, and Roger Meyer. The m~nutes of the previous meeting will be reviewed at the June 12 meeting. Mike Kovar presented a brief description of the April 16 meeting of the Industry and Commercial area of the Economic Development Committee of Ramsey. The first piece of work this group did was to attempt to com- pile a comprehensive list of businesses in Ramsey. There appears to be some 70+ businesses whose views the group would like to poll on. The following issues to begin with: -- Type of buildings -- Sewer and water -- Service Road -- Expansion of Industrial Blvd. -- Mississippi River Crossing -- Business atmosphere -- Labor market It was decided a letter would precede the visit by an Economic Develop- ment Committee member. Mike Kovar presented a proposed introductory letter to go to the Ramsey businesses. A discussion ensued on completing the community profile. Don Greenberg reported the airport committee had met May 8 with General M~lls to discuss the following: -- What their feelings were on expansion of the airport, and -- What their plans might be for their huge holdings in Ramsey. General Mills stated a principal deterrent is lack of a resolution of the Anoka/Champlin bridge bottleneck. Tom Gamec stated they have in- dicated an interest to him also. Much discussion ensued about a new bridge and the concensus seemed to be this is still, in spite of all the time already put into it, really a key for Ramsey. Tom Gamec reported the Metropolitan Council still doesn't want sewer for Ramsey but rather hold services close in. E.D.C. May 8, 1980 Page 1
