Councihnember Kurak stated that she would be interested in bringing back the original motion. <br />She explained that she realized that if they continue putting off the salary increase it will become <br />more difficult for the City to "catch up" with what other cities are paying. <br /> <br />Councihncmber Pearson stated that he liked the first proposal because he felt it was more in line <br />with what other communities are paying for both the Mayor and City Council. <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen stated that she does not have a problem with increasing the salaries, <br />but she did not agree with going from the bottom of the pay scale to the top for the Mayor. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested the Mayor salary be increased to $8,500 or 8,000 and the City Council <br />salary to $6,500 or $6,000. <br /> <br />Councihnember Pearson stated that Ramsey is a growing City and some of the other cities <br />included in the survey are more established where they don't have as much demand on the City <br />Cotmcil and Mayor. He felt that a salary of $10,000 for the Mayor and $6,000 for the City <br />Council was reasonable. <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen noted that a City Council salary of $6,000 and a Mayor salmy of <br />$8,000 would be a 33 percent salary increase. <br /> <br />Councilmcmbcr Kurak suggested that they increase the salaries to $8,000 and $6,000 and then <br />review the salaries every two years. <br /> <br />Councihnember Strommen replied that she could agree with that. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak suggested that staff bring forward a case with an option of salaries of <br />$6,000 and $10,000 or $6,000 and $8,000 and then let the full City Council decide. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that he thought it would be better to go with $8,000 and $6,000 or $8,500 <br />and $6,500. <br /> <br />Councihncmber Pearson stated that he could go along with $8,500 and $6,500 or $8,000 and <br />$6,000 options <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman noted that staff would forward those options on to the next City <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />3a) Redevelopment at T.H. #47 and 167th Avenue <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman provided the City Council with a letter from the Dom Law Firm, <br />LTD representing Rum River Plaza Associates, LLP and R. Dean Co., Inc.
