I
I
I
!
I
I
!
I
I
I
I
I
I

years, and it appears that this route will continue as a trunk
route for the foreseeable future.

The Anoka County Thoroughfare Plan, which was completed
in 1974, identifies the east-west section of CSAH ~57 (Industry
Avenue) as a segment of a major east-west county arterial.
Alignment studies and preliminary planning activities are now
in progress for this arterial from Andover through Anoka and
through this study area to County Road #83 in the southwestern
section of the City of Ramsey. The City Councils of the City
of Anoka, the City of Andover and the City of Ramsey have all
reviewed proposed plans to proceed with this improvement with
the starting segment being the necessary bridge crossing of the
Rum River in the southeast corner of the study area. The
benefits of this proposed transportation improvement to the
current residents, future residents and to the development
generally of the City of Ramsey are major and cover a broad
spectrum of accessibility matters:

1) The extension of this route will inter-connect the
five major north-south collectors and arterials within the
City to the high school which will serve the total community.

2) It will inter-connect the metropolitan area for all
trips, thus preventing the hazardous crossing requirements of
the Burlington Northern railroad at grade and entrance onto
MTH #10 at unsignalled crossings.

- 17 -
