THORO UGHFARES

U. S. Highways 10, 52 and 169 are joined when passin'g through the southern edge
of Ramsey township along the Mississippi River. This four lane highway is heavily
traveled and is the primary east-west artery through :the_township..There are_seg-
ments of'east-west routes to the north, none of which is a major thoroughfare.
Several north-south thoroughfares traverse the township., the most traveled being
State Highway 47, or St. Francis Blvd. It runs along the Rum River northward~from
Anoka. Another north-south route is G.S.A.H. 5, or NoWther~ Blvd, which branches
to the west from St. Francis Blvd. and proceeds north. It is in turn-joined by County
Road 57, or Sunfish Blvd., and County Road 56, or Ramsey Blvd., both of which are
north-south connections to Highway 10 and 52. The wester, nmost north-south
route through Ramsey township is County Road 83, or Armstrong Blvd., which in-
tersects Highways 10 and 52 two miles from the western, boundary of the township.

1970 traffic volumes on Highways 10 and 52 ranged from 20,350 vehicles per day
at the Anoka Gity Limits to an average daily volume of I7,000 at the western boundary
of Ramsey Township. The plate titled Average Daily Traffi-c Flow clearly shows the
disproportionately high volume of traffic along this-roadway as opposed to other's in the
township. St. Francis Blvd. averaged 2,275 vehicles.per day near the Anoka City
Limits, tapering to 1575 vehicles p, er day at the northern boundary. Sections of
Nowthen Blvd., Ramsey Blvd., and Roanoke St. also show'an excess of 500 vehicles
per day average daily traffic. All other thoroughfares averaged less than 500 trips
per day.
