COMMUNITY FACILITIES

Parks

Ramsey Township.has a number of small "neighborhood parks" which have been
included m several of the recently platted subdivisions. Such parks exist in
Brom's Addition, Ramsey Terrace, Hunter's Hill, and Beaudry's Second Addition
in the southeastern quarter of the township; in Ford Brook Estates, Riverwood
Hills (two parks), and Brook View Estates in the northeastern quarter of the town-
ship; in Caroline Acres and Shawn Acres in the northwestern quarter; and in
Whispering Pines Estates (two parks) and Greenwood Hills Plat in- the southwestern
quarter of the township. These park areas often take advantage of land areas
within a subdivided property that are inadequate for building sites because of
natural limitations.

In addition to these neighborhood parks, there is a park area in the Auditor's
subdivision between U.S. Highways 10 and 52 and the Mississippi River, that
also serves as a highway rest area. Anoka County has recently purchased land
along the Rum River on a peninsula of land formed by the river in Grow Township
for a county park. This site is very close to subdivision development in the
northeastern corner of Ramsey Township and will help fill the need for major
recreation facilities in that area.

Towns hip Hall

The Township Hall is an older former school building on St. Francis Blvd. north of
the Anoka City Limits. It houses the township offices and functions as a meeting
hall for the township planning commission and the town board, and is available
to various community groups by appointment. Highway equipment i-s housed in an
adjacent garage.

Police and Fire Protection

Fire protection for Ramsey Township is contracted from the Anoka Fire Department.
Po!ice protection is provided by the Anoka County Sheriff's Department.

Schools

The majority of Ramsey Township falls within School District No. It; it includes
all but the western edge and northwestern corner of the township. This remaining
area falls in School District No. 728. School District No. 11 is actively considering
at leas,t one elementary school site in Ramsey Township and there is a possibility
that there may be a need for two in the near future-.
