existing
conditions

EXISTING LAND USE

The majority of residential development in Ramsey Township has taken place along
Ramsey Blvd., especially between 149th. Lane N.W. and 167th. Avenue N.W.
There are numerous other subdivisaons in other parts of _the township: several lie near
the Rum River in addition to some along St. Francis Blvd. and in the northwest
corner of the township along County Road 83. A few others are scattered throughout the
township. The random location of subdivisions would indicate that when and where
land becomes available, it is readily purchased and developed.

There are a few farms remaining in Ramsey township, mostly in the areas farthest
from Anoka, to the northwest. These farms contain the bulk of the undeveloped
land that remains in the township, although many farmers have obviously already
begun to sell portions of their farmland to interested developers.

There exist a number of single family dwellings scattered throughout the township,
primarily alongside roadways. There are also two mobile home parks in the township,
both on Highways 10 and 52. One is just to the west of the Anoka City Limits on the
south side of the highway, with approximately 40 units. The other is just west of
Gounty Road 57, to the north of the highway, containing about 90 units. There
are very few mobile homes elsewhere in the township~

With few exceptions all commercial development in Ramsey Township is limited to
land fronting along Highways l0 and 52. The heaviest conceritrations are near
the Anoka City Limits and around the intersection of Ramsey Blvd. with 10 and 52.

Land categorized as public or semi-public includes the county fairgrounds ,in the
southeasternmost corner of the township, the sanitary landfill across Gounty Road
57 from Sunfish Lake, the Vocational School Parking facilities and the highway
weigh station near the western boundary of .the township. There are also a series
of community parks, as yet undeveloped, which are mostly by-products of recently
platted subdivisions.

Industrial land use in Ramsey as concentrated in the Southeastern quarter of the
township; there is an industrial park west of Gounty Road 57 where it is intersected
by Industry Avenue N.W. Aside from one industrial facility on Industry Avenue,
all other facilities are located in this park.

There are two airstrips m Ramsey township. One is located just north of Highways
10 and 52 and east of Ramsey Blvd. The other, a smaller strip, is located
just west of Armstrong Blvd. north of the intersection of 161st.
