Public Hearing Page 2 ..,, October.'10, 1978 Mr. Frank Wolfbauer asked if would increase our house value then would it increase our taxes. ~hyor Cox reminded the citizens that the taxes on their homes are based on their homes and not what is on the street~ Mr. Frank Wolfbauer asked if they were assessed on a mill rate, He was told that they were. Mr. Frank Wolfbauer then asked how he can get that on an empty lot~ Mayor Cox told him he could increase the price considerably, Mr. Terry Calmin asked if they were going to be hit by additional assess~ ments down the line. Mayor Cox stated yes if that were the case. He also reminded the citizens that additional assessments would become a reality if~_the'need were there and the people wanted it. But that at thepresent time each_individual homeowner should take care of his or her own septic-system'as city sewer is a long way off. Mrs. Howard Meyers asked as far. as the 'sewer, who-makes the final :deciSion on it. Mayor Cox stated it would be a bond issue, referendum~ But it has to come .to the edge of the City first. Mr. Howard Meyers asked if we do have asay so if comes imor:~does the Council. Mr. Meyers was told that.sewer would have. to gothrough the:-_similar :pro~ cedure as for street improvements. Ms. Muriene Schmichael asked if that would be brought in similar to street- improvements, with a petitiOn? Mr. Robert Graves asked if the industrial area south of 149th is going to be serviced with sewer, Mayor Cox told him it depends on the developer and the pressure placed on him. Ms. Wendy Graves asked what it would take to delete one street, 1S0th, from the petition. Mr. Randy Dutcher asked if the project were approved and.theywere assessed through the taxes when would it start? City Engineer Raatikka told him it would start january 1, 1980. Ms. Barb Grain asked with the number of units involved, how many would Menkveld be picking up.
