Public Hearing <br />Page 2 ..,, <br />October.'10, 1978 <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Wolfbauer asked if would increase our house value then would <br />it increase our taxes. <br /> <br />~hyor Cox reminded the citizens that the taxes on their homes are based <br />on their homes and not what is on the street~ <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Wolfbauer asked if they were assessed on a mill rate, <br /> <br />He was told that they were. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Wolfbauer then asked how he can get that on an empty lot~ <br /> <br />Mayor Cox told him he could increase the price considerably, <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Calmin asked if they were going to be hit by additional assess~ <br />ments down the line. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox stated yes if that were the case. He also reminded the citizens <br />that additional assessments would become a reality if~_the'need were there <br />and the people wanted it. But that at thepresent time each_individual <br />homeowner should take care of his or her own septic-system'as city sewer <br />is a long way off. <br /> <br />Mrs. Howard Meyers asked as far. as the 'sewer, who-makes the final :deciSion <br />on it. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox stated it would be a bond issue, referendum~ But it has to come <br />.to the edge of the City first. <br /> <br />Mr. Howard Meyers asked if we do have asay so if comes imor:~does the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Meyers was told that.sewer would have. to gothrough the:-_similar :pro~ <br />cedure as for street improvements. <br /> <br />Ms. Muriene Schmichael asked if that would be brought in similar to street- <br />improvements, with a petitiOn? <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Graves asked if the industrial area south of 149th is going <br />to be serviced with sewer, <br /> <br />Mayor Cox told him it depends on the developer and the pressure placed on <br />him. <br /> <br />Ms. Wendy Graves asked what it would take to delete one street, 1S0th, <br />from the petition. <br /> <br />Mr. Randy Dutcher asked if the project were approved and.theywere assessed <br />through the taxes when would it start? <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka told him it would start january 1, 1980. <br /> <br />Ms. Barb Grain asked with the number of units involved, how many would <br />Menkveld be picking up. <br /> <br /> <br />
