January 8~ 1979
Page 11
Regular Council

H.U.D. GRANT

A discussion was held on the possibility of Ramseyapplying for H,U.D. grant
monies. It was the feeling that Ramsey should go on our own and not with
another city.

Councilman Cox suggested the City Staff work on getting something together
on a need for the grant and present it at the January 22, 1979 regular
Com~cil meeting.

PARK BOAR]) RECOI~C, IENDATIONS

There is a big concern on the attendance of the Park Board members for their
monthly meetings. The Council feels something should be done on this and if
should be covered in the City Ordinance. At present this Ordinance doesn't
cover the Park Board Commission. The Council is requestingwork on this and
it presented at the January 22, 1979 regular Council meeting.

A discussion on the Grosslein problem and the improvement of Tungsten Street
foll~qed.

It was suggested that the City Administrator, City Attorney Goodrich and City
Engineer Raatikka, Mr. Grosslein, Dickenson~s and the Andersons have a meeting
to discuss the issue.

It was noted that the drainage is the major problem in that area and it can
only be resolved by a storm sewer, The Council felt they should wait for
the Engineer's report before making any decision on this issue. The upgrad*
ing of Tungsten and Front Street is necessary because of the heavy trucks
that use them.

The Council is requesting a letter be sent to the family of Mr. Ron Westphal
who was killed on Saturday January 6j 1979 while cutting wood,

The Council is also requesting a'letter be sent to the family of Mr. Jim
Klerseywho was killed in a snowmobile accident.

A letter is to be sent to Mr, Bud Reynolds commending him on the fine work
he has done for the City of Champlin and his nomination as '"Good Neighbor
to the Northwest" on the Dick Chapman WCCO Radio program.

A letter is to be sent to Mr. Ed Fields on the dedication of Industrial Blvd.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carried, Voting yes Councilman Muller, Councilman Reimann, Councilman
Mickelson, Councilman Cox and Mayor Gamec.
