And, now to 9et assessed for this road also, he doesn't know why he should have to be burdened on top of blacktopping his own development. He wishes he would have known about this before. Mayor Gamec asked Street Superintendent Mevissen if the Street Department would be able to grade and gravel this road. Mevissen stated that it depends on how much dirt there is to move. Council,man Cox questioned where the City wou~d get the money to improve the road in the future since it is doubtful that there will be anymore development in that area. Councilman Reimann said it could be done by petition, he doesn't feel the City should pay any of it. Councilman Mickelson questioned how the road could be engineered to match up with the other improved roads if it was done later. Councilman Cox said Dr. Anderson of White Pines- although he did not .agree at first, has expressed how glad he' is that he blacki~O.pped his development because it has made his property much more Valuable.' Mrs. Hanson said if their property is assessed forlt~iis road it will make it so valuable that they won't be able to afford to keep it. Mayor Gamec polled the Councilmembers. Councilman Sorteber9 said he is not in favor of'any of the. five alternatives suggested in the Engineer's report. Councilman Reimann is not in favor and feels the prQject'should'beldropped, Councilman Cox said the project ~hould proceed in some manner but he is not necessarily in favor of any of the five alternatives. Councilman Mickelson feels the project should proceed in some reasonable manner, Mayor Gamec feels the project should be accomplished, but some other alternative should be worked out for financing, Councilman Cox added that one of the reasons for having a statutory City was to avoid this type of situation. When the Council sees a need for something they should take the initiative and get the job done. This is the reason for govern- ment structure and it is probably the first time this Council has been faced with a situation like this. Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to table this issue until May 14, 1979 to look for another alternative for fina.ncing. Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mi ckel son ,. Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: None.
