She indicated, the Building Official
proposed that the City bring the two unpaid Building Inspector interns on as full-time,
temporary, paid Building Inspectors at a rate of $15 per hour. She stated that if they are brought
on as full-time, temporm.'y employees, they would work through the end of this year and they
would be responsible for residential inspections which would enable one of the City's full-time
regular Building Inspectors to assist with plan revieTM. She noted that these full-time, temporary
positions would be funded with revenues from building permits, which have exceeded original
projections. The Personnel Cornmittee recommends authorizing staff to hire the two unpaid
interns as full-time, temporary Building Inspectors at $15 per hour through the end of 2004.

Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councihnember Cook, to adopt Resolution
#04-07-179 authorizing staff to hire the two unpaid interns as full-time, temporary Building
Inspectors at $15 per hour through the end of 2004.

P46

CiB, Council/July 13, 2004
