BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

Case of Hedstrom Electric - Variance request.

Pursuant to due call and notice therof the City of Ramsey'~ Board of Adjustment
convened on June 11, 1979, at Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard
N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303

Chairman Mickelson cal~ed the Board of Adjustment to order at 7:37 P.M. and
led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Members Present:

Mayor Gamec
Councilman Cox
Councilman Mickelson
Councilman Reimann
Councilman Sorteberg

Others Present:

City Admin. Schnelle

Chairman Mickelson explained that this is a public hearing to receive input
and consider a request for variance from Section 170.013D of the City Code
for Mr. Hedstrom to construct additions to his existing buildings and to add a
pole building for a garage. Property involved: 6260 Highway 10, Ramsey,
Minnesota. Commercial zoning.

Mayor Gamec noted a letter from Jack Newcomb in regard to this request. Mr.
Newcomb lives adjacent to the property involved in a residentially zoned area.

Mr. Newcomb is concerned as to s'ome type of screening being employed between
the business and the residential area as there is none at present.

Chairman Mickelson noted a letter received regarding this request from the
Environmental Quality Board and Planning and Zoning Commission minutes dated
4/2/79.

Councilman Cox commented regarding the letter from the EQB. He said their
recommendations are of little value because they are things that would only
naturally be done as part of the construction.

Mr. Newcomb said that some type of barrier is needed between the residential
lots and this business for safety of children and asthetic reasons.

Discussion held on existing trees.

Mr. Newcomb said he has sited down the property line and the trees appear to be
right on the line. His question is, how far in will a screening fence be placed
and what kind of fence will it be?

Discussion held regarding the proximity of the trees to the property line,
installation of a fence and still being able to have space.in which to maintain
it.

-1-
Hedstrom Electric
Board of Adjustment
.6/11/79
