WORKSHOP ~ MEETING PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION City of Ramsey The Planning & Zoning Commission held a WorkshoP meeting on February 20, 1980, at the' Ramse.y Municipal ·Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 ~embers Present: Ken Peterson, Chairman Art Dunn Gerald Zimmeman BenD eemer Kathleen·Schneider' Harry Ellis Members Absent: Ron West The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M..The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Industrial Use Classifications, the Site Plan/Building Design Plan Review. The· first draft df the Land Use Section of the Comprehensive Plan was given to the' Commission to read and review for the next meeting. Mr. Marston asked that the Planning Commission set'up another meeting within the next two to three weeks to get together and work on the ComprehenSive Plan since it is a little behind schedule. · ' INDUSTRIAL ~USE CLASS I FI CATIONS The comments of the Councilmembers were reviewed. Ben Deemer explained, in hope of clarifyin~ how the proposed classification method would be used. He stated that the procedure basically pertains to new developments (plats) since there are really no existing industrial businesses close to residential areas and this method of classification is set up for the following major purposes: 1. to break down industry into light and medium without having to have a long list of permitted.uses. 2. to show that Ramsey can have Industrial and Commercial businesSes on one acre lot minimum size. He stated that the problem in understanding the method of classification is probably in the language of the way it is written. It does'need refining. This is intended to become part of the site palnd/buiRIding design ordinance. One of the things that this will accomplish is for example, instead of saying a certain sheetmetal shop is light industry because of its size or that it is February 20, 1980 WORKSHOP Pg. 1
