7. Zoning Enforcement in Industrial and Commercial Areas <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson said the City Council stated that theme would not be any <br />action taken on zoning enforcement except on citizen complaint. <br /> <br />Kathy Schneider expressed her concern about the accident prone area around <br />the fruit stand on Sunfish Lake Blvd. & Highway 10. <br /> <br />Ben Deemer said being there aren't any citizens in the commercial and industrial <br />areas, he felt when city staff sees a violation there, it should be looked into. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson said legally, the city has an obligation to enforce zoning <br />ordinances. <br /> <br />Ben Deemer expressed concerns regarding the mining ordinance, the fruit stand <br />and what Mr. Kovar was erecting in front of his house. <br /> <br />Ron West said Mr. Kovar was putting in dry wells for a parking lot. <br /> <br />Ben Deemer expressed concern about the man with the ties also. He s'aid he <br />felt that City Hall should take action on ordinance violations in industrial <br />and commercial areas when anyone sees something. He noted the new mining areas also. <br /> <br />Ron West said he thought violations should be investigated as'long as a person <br />doesn't act like a private investigator or come in everyday with complaints. <br /> <br />Motion by Ben Deemer and seconded by Kathy Schneider to recommend to City Council <br />that when an ordinance violation takes place in commercial and industrial areas <br />that action be taken no matter who makes the comPlaint to City Hall staff. <br /> <br />Kathy Schneider recommended that the motion state that it be noted that the <br />violation is ta~ing place. She Said if she makes a complaint it is because <br />she feels the violation will hurt someone. <br /> <br />Ron West asked Building Official Berg if he was supposed to be involved in <br />zoning violations. <br /> <br />Building Official Berg said he was not involved in zoning violations. <br /> <br />Motion by Kathy Schneider and seconded by Ben Deemer to amend the original <br />motion to read, "to recommend to City coUncil that when an ordinance violation <br />takes place in commercial and industrial areas that acknowledgement be made that <br />an ordinance violation exists no matter who makes the complaint to City Hall <br />staff. <br /> <br />Motion carried 5-1. Gerald Zimmerman opposed. <br /> <br />Vote on original motion 5-1. Gerald Zimmerman opposed. <br /> <br />8. Miscellaneous Input <br /> <br />Kathy Schneider commented about the CoUncil Meeting of June 2, 1980 regarding <br />the motion on house sizes. She noted the P & Z Commission reconnnended that <br />the results of that meeting be brought back to the P g Z Commission, <br /> <br />P & Z Regular Meeting Page 6 8/4/80 <br /> <br /> <br />
