I
I
I
I

Tony Matawick - 16631 Dolomite - Stated that he is opposed to the tower
at this location and wouldn't a portion of the 40 acres directly across
the street from the proposed location be just as suitable.

Mr. Fults replied that according to the Comprehensive Plan, that 40 acre
parcel would have to be split into 4 - 10 acre parcels and then Group W
purchase one of those 10 acre parcels for the tower.' The purchase of 10
acres for a small accessory building and a tower of that size is unreasonable.

Commissioner Deemer noted that utilizing a 10 acre parcel for that reason
would be a tax loss to the City.

I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I

Leo Kinebel - Stated that he has been informed by a representative of KSTP
that in the very near future, discs will be available to the homeowner, at
a one-time cost, that will receive programming directly from satellites and
there will be no towers involved.

Commissioner Deemer replied that one disadvantage to that alternative is that
the public'will not be able to receive local T.V. programming such as
City Hall meetings and local sporting events.

Mr. Commers stated that another advantage to Cable is that the City will
receive 5% franchise fee from the cable company.

Commissioner Sdhneider stated that there are situations in Ramsey that are
more unsightly than a T.V. tower.

Tony Matawick insists that if Group W wants to do business, they will find
a more suitable location.

Terry Bruneau stated that he is not convinced that all alternative sites have
been explored.

Mr. Berg commented that regardless of what decision is made at tonight's
meeting, the request must go.to City Council for final approval on December
21, 1982.

Commissioner Schneider advised those present to submit a formal letter of
opposition to this proposed site to Council.

Mr. Fults commented that Dave Voight has been paying taxes on the subject
property for a number of years, the residents of Rolling Green have been
using that property as a playground and snowmobiling area, and now Mr. Voight
has an opportunity to obtain partial return on that investment and the
same residents who play on that property are trying to deny Mr. Voight his
opportunity.

Rick Reinholz - 6720 Dolomite - Stated that he is opposed to a T.V. tower
at the proposed site.

Leo Kinebel - Inquired as to how much weight residential opposition carries
at these meetings.

Chairman Peterson stated that the Commission will take the opposition into
consideration, but that the citizen opposition cannot dictate the Commission's
decision.

P & Z/December 7, 1982
Public Hearing
