6200 177th Lane, N.W.
27 November 1979

Lloyd Schnell, City Administrator
City of Ramsey Admin. Offices
15153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, MN 55303

Re: Robert Nugent's Pig Feedlot

Dear Lloyd:

This letter serves as my collection of complaints that cannot be
expressed in a formal petition. However, they do prohibit me from
enjoying the amenities of owning this property.

Spring, summer and fall; day and night, I listen to the
screech of pigs, lessers slamming and/or calves being
weaned.

2. I don't line-dry washed clothes anymore. They get
covered with fly specks.

Next summer, my son will be one year old. I hesitate to
let him play in the backyard. I've seen rats running
toward his feedlot.

I feel a part of normal living is the opportunity to
entertain in one's backyard. We no longer do this--
the stench and sound effects discourage this type of
socializing. Do you know the stench of pig urine will
literally bring tears to your eyes on a hot, muggy July
night?

The addition of his 7 foot corrugated steel fenc~ ad-
Joining this property line has almost totally destroyed
most of the a~stetic value of this house,

All of the residents on 177th Lane bought houses here when Nugent's
property was owned by people having-two horses and.'a cow. Obviously,
there was no objection to that type of animal-keeping. Nugent's moved
to their property after each of us were settled, and through his
lifestyle has caused regret of ever buying here. Conversations al-
ways come to the same bottom line of no one bought here to live in
this.

In my opinion, the present economy does not encourage the average home-
owner to sell and relocate. However, I will close with this request:
If you know anyone who would like to buy this house at fair market
value, please have them contact me.

cc: Bill Goodrich

Sincerely,'
