Mr. Lloyd G. Schnelle
December 17, 1979
Page Two

the street. The barricade and sign would be in addition to the 30" warning
DEAD END signs which would be posted at the nearest intersecting street for
any street which terminates or has no outlet.

The installation of a barricade and ROAD CLOSED sign is recommended as a
policy matter to be adopted by the City of Ramsey in its subdivision
ordinance. Its intent is to protect the City against liability claims
resulting from someone driving beyond the end of a dedicated, graded street.

The proper mounting of signs for both lateral and vertical clearance, as
outlined in the Guidelines for Traffic Sign Inventory and the Manual {MUTCD),
should be adhered to by the crews which install and maintain the signing.

The field crews also need to be cognizant of tree, bush, brush, and weed
growth which obstructs or obscures the visibility Of traffic signs.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me or I'd be
happy to meet with you.

Sincerely yours,

CON.SULTI~ENGINEERS DIVERSIFIED,' INC.

JJ/dn
Enclosures

File: RT3:11-30
