Motion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Cox to adopt the following resolution RESOLUTION NO. 80-6 RESOLUTION TO IMPROVE SECURITY AT ANOKA STATE HOSPITAL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota is concerned about the safety of the citizens who reside in the communities surrounding the Anoka State Hospital and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota is concerned of the safety of the patients at the Anoka State Hospital and, WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota is very concerned that the responsible elected officials neglect to carry out their duties in correcting a long overdue serious situation and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1. It is requested that an appropriate security barrier be constructed to eliminate the possibility of patients just simply walking away from the facility. 2. It is requested that an investigation be made to insure that there is adequate security personnel to maintain a 24-hour security surveillance over the building and grounds of the State Hospital to assure that patients do not walk away from the hospital. 3. It is further requested that the responsible elective official and their appointed officials give a written report to this City Council within ten days after receipt of this r,esolution on what steps are being taken to protect the citizens of the communities surrounding the Anoka State Hospital. Further, the steps that are being taken to protect the patients of the Hospital. Voting yes: Sorteberg. Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and Voting no: None. Motion carried.
