REPORT ON THE FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR
158TH LANE N.W., 159TH LANE N.W.
AND KAMACITE STREET N.W.
BITUMINOUS STREET PAVING

Scope:

The purpose of this report is to discuss the feasibility of providing bituminous
surfacing on the above referenced streets. This report also provides a cursory
review of the existing drainage system within the project area.

The project area lies within the SW~ of Section 15, Township 32 North, Range 25
West, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota.

The project is generally bounded by County Ditch No. 66 & 3 on the west and
south, 160th Lane on the north and County Road No. 56 and Jaspar Street N.W.

on the west as shown on Exhibit A.

Existing Conditionsl

The present street network Consists Of a rural street section with a gravel or
sand surface approximately 24 to 26 feet in width. An inspection of the area
revealed that the existing drainage facilities are minimal and the area lyi'ng
northwest of the 159th Lane N.W~ and Kamacite Street N.W. intersection does not
have an outlet. Ditches in the area are practically non-existent and a majority
of the driveways do not have culverts. It appears that a majority of 158th Lane
N.W. and 159th Lane N.W. drain into County Ditch No. 66 & 3,-and Kamacite

Street N.W. and the easterly portion of 159th Lane ponds easterly of their inter-
section. While the existing ponding area assimilates the storm water run-off
into the ground by percolation, occasional flooding could occur during heavy
rainfalls and prior to the spring thaw.

-1-
