C. <br /> <br />RE: Yomr letter dated April 23, 1980 regarding the use of General <br /> Revenue Sharing Funds in the City of Ramsey, Minnesota <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Oberstar: <br /> <br />In reply to your letter, the City Council of the City of Ramsey, <br />Minnesota is most happy to state how this City has used General <br />Revenue Sharing Funds to give its citizens a better quality of life. <br /> <br />The City used its entitlements 9 & 10 1978 and 1979 Revenue Sharing <br />money for the following areas: <br /> <br />1) $41,000 for park improvement (Titterude Park) <br />2) $15,000 for storm drainage study for 70% of the City <br />3) $ 1,000 for thoroughfare study which is part of the <br /> City's total comprehensive plan revision, <br />4) $16,650 principle and interest payment on road grader <br /> contract payable. <br />5) $ 2,000 for the purchase of four (4) two way radios for <br /> City vehicles <br /> <br />The City budgeted to use its entitlement #11 1980 Revenue Sharing money in <br />the following areas: <br /> <br />1) $ 4,050 for the purchase of a police squad car, and <br />2) $45,950 for the purchase of front end loader for the <br /> City Public Works Department. <br /> <br />It should be noted that Rmm~ey is a City with a population between 10,000 <br />and 12,000 people. The City had an extremely rapid growth period between <br />1970 and 1980. It was incorporated as a City in 1974 which makes it a <br />very young City with a lot of growing problems. Its citizens are young <br />folks who are just getting started in their work vocation and accordingly <br />they are not the high paid technieiams, executives or business men. <br /> <br /> <br />
