May 1, 1980
Page Two

In reviewing the problem of ponding of water on the west
side of the fill section of the landfill, we have found this
to be a short term problem. On March 25, 1980, during the
course of a routine site inspection, it was noted that snow
and ice melt was being retained in this area. This was
discussed with the site operator and he immediately provided
for drainage of the area. This corrective action was taken
within days since it was noted in our inspection of March 31st
that the drainage of this water had caused erosion on the
west slope. The depression has since been filled and the
erosion is in the process of~being repaired. Upon completion
of erosion repair, a temporary seeding will be accomplished
on the west slope and a more permanent seeding undertaken
during this summer.

Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our a~tention
and as always if there is anything further which I can do to
assist you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With personal regards, I am,

Sincerely,

Edward F.
