ACE Solid Waste: On March 28, 2000 the City Council decided not to grant ACE Solid Waste TIF assistance for site acquisition, however the City Council is considering offering TIF assistance towards utility costs. ACE Solid Waste will continue to proceed forward with their proposed site generally located at the intersection of McKinley St. and Azurite Street. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed Site Plan on March 6, 2000. The City Council reviewed site plan on March 28, 2000 and decided to table the item until the April 11, 2000 meeting when they can review both the site plan and conditional use permit applications together. The Community Development office has received a Conditional Use application for the transfer station ofrecyclables and mixed solid waste (MSW). The application will be reviewed by the Planning Commission at a special meeting on April 10, 2000. 2000 Road Improvement Projects Update: Sunwood South of Landfill and 143rd between Jasper and County Road 116: Both of these roads are presently being designed, biding is expected to occur in the summer, the base will be built during the fall construction, and during the 2001 construction season bituminous surfacing will be laid. BMA: It is anticipated that a service roads will be needed as soon as this summer depending on the development needs. Water Tower: A new water tower will be constructed on the Connexus Energy property immediately south of Cotton Wood and the Industrial Park. This new water tower will provide greater water pressure to westerly development. New EDA Members: The City Council wanted more applications to review for the vacant EDA positions before they appointed two new members. Chairperson, Ken Wagner, did a promotion and advertisement about the EDA and the vacant positions for QCTV cable t.v. The Council hopes to receive a few more EDA applications and appoint two new members shortly.
