This was discussed at great length at the League con- <br />vention and according to other City Administrators I have <br />talked to it sounds pretty good. <br /> <br />However, it does take the insurance away from the private <br />sector and move it to the government sector. As an example, <br />to some Cities completely insure themselves an only buy <br />catastrophic insurance to cover the major losses. This does <br />save a lot of money but it hurts the small business man and <br />the insurance companies. Consequently, the Council may not <br />be interested in getting involved here. <br /> <br />REGARDING MEETING OM SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL CAPACITY NEEDS IN <br /> <br />METRO AREA: <br /> <br />Enclosure (D3-b) contains background information on a public <br />meeting being held by the Metro Council at Metro Council <br />Chambers in St. Paul at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, June 26, 1980. <br />I would think this would be a must meeting for the City <br />Council members to attend due to our situation here in Ramsey. <br /> <br />If members of our Council desire to speak at this meeting <br />please let me know so I can submit your name on the list. <br /> <br />Council Action: Your action will be to note this important <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
