He explained it will be up to 'the individual owners
to take care of their ow~ driveways, with the exception of a one-foot apron
which would be provided on all driveways to protect the edge of the pavement.
He said the proposed street section would be paved 24' wide with 1' to 4'
wide shoulders. The street section proposed consists of a 3" gravel base with
a 1~" bituminous surface. He said this base and surface has been used
throughout the city with favorable results and the city has had very little
maintenance problems with them. The estimated-costs of the project are
$42,250 for bituminous surfacing, $18,975 for Class V Gravel, $9,700 for
grading and culvert installation, $6,525 for restoration, ditch cleaning and
culvert cleaning and $5,950 for subgrade cobrection. $8.3,400 is the estimated
construction cost, plus contingencies, engineering & administrative costs of
$207850 for a total estimated cost for street improvement of $104,250.
It is proposed to assess the cost on a unit basis. The cost is divided between
47 units for a total of $2,218.09 per unit. At 10% interest for 10 years,
the annual unit cost is $361.01.

Mayor Gamec said the city is not looking at ever p~tting sewer in this particular
area. The contractor puts out a performance bond for.a period of one year
and will take care of all costs for repair. If there is a cost change in
regards to blacktop of over 25%, a public hearing will have to be held again.
In most cases, the final figure comes'to 2% to 5% below the City Engineer's
estimated costs.

Public Hearing
June 16, 1980
Page 1
