He also asked how <br />this is going to be dealt with in the future. <br /> <br />Mr. Woelfel, Waste Management, said as far as monitoring devices in the homes~ <br />they will be monitoring year around. Also, they intend to install a device that <br />will give them a management tool to know exactly when the system is functioning <br />and when it is not functioning. He said theme could be more potential hazard <br />if there is a freeze. <br /> <br />County Commissioner Fields said he was never told that Landfill gases could <br />get into the basements. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said there isn't anyone who can tell us that what they put in <br />will do the job. Waste Managements said before that it would do the job and now <br />it isn't doing the job. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said he firmly believed that whatever is done is not going to do <br />the job 100%. <br /> <br />Mr. Otter, Waste Management, said putting the lime cap on may have affected <br />the gas levels. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he thought Waste Management had a much greater degree <br />of responsibility in the area because all these aspects have made the residential <br />homes there non-marketable. He said he felt mismanagement had caused the <br />problem and the solution is much gl~eater than just taking care of the problem <br />which is the result of the mismanagement. <br /> <br />Gregory Woelfel, Waste Management, said they are prepared to bring back the <br />original company who designed the system to assess the system. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said he questioned whether the State Agency or <br />the County Agency is responsible in this matter. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka asked if the monitoring devices were going to have remote <br />alarms on them because he could see a problem if the homeowner was away on <br />vacation or something. <br /> <br />Mr. Ray Usher,'15000 Garnet'St..N.W. <br /> <br />Mr. Usher said he is hearing that the city and the citizens both would like <br />someone who would be nutral and the Health Department said they would do that. <br />He suggested turning the sytem off until the Health Dept. makes their tests. <br /> <br />Special Council <br />August 15, 1980 <br /> Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
