should be monitored at least once a week until a degree a stability is evi-
dent. The monitoring frequency can then be adjusted to lon§er periods of
time, dependent on weather, surface conditions, system operations, etc.

Instrumentation- We recommend that you obtain the following gas moni-
toring equipment and instrumentation and assign at least one individual to
become thoroughly familiar with their operation, calibration, and maintenance:

0

Gas analyzer with automatic gas pump, scales - 0-5% com-
bustibles, 0-]00% combustibles, 0-25% oxygen--a water
trap and cotton absorbent pad should always be in line
between the instrument' and gas source. A J.W. Model HPK
or similar unit is recommended. (The ability to measure
oxygen is not mandatory, but may be helpful in deter-
mining the location of pipeline breaks.)

Magnehelic pressure gauges with ranges of 0-0.5, 0-5,
and 0-30 inches of H20 are recommended to determine gas
pipe line pressure and velocity head.

Pitot tube to use in conjunction with pressure gauge for
gas fl ow measurements.

System Modification - An easterly extension of the north leg should be
added to the system to control the apparent landfill gas migration immediately
north of the landfill. Additional system capacity will be required in the
amount of 35 to 50 cfm per added well. A schematic control system design for
the extension is attached and shows some alternative locations for-placing
motor blowers. The increased capacity will be provided by a new motor-blower
unit. The existing motor-blower unit could continue to serve for the present
control system or be used as stand-by equipment: . With appropriate intercon-
nections, either motor blower could feasibly act as a backup system for the
other unit or during periods of maintenance. The specific system design and
potential for interconnec'tion will be determined during the design phase.
