System Y, anac~ement- Based on a relatively standard approach used in the industry, the system design includes neither sophisticated/automatic alarm systems nor monitoring systems. It relies on a constant source of electricity, proper maintenance of its components, and human management. The various system components must be placed on a maintenance program consistent with equipment manufacturers' recommendations and good practice. Host importantly, equipment should be checked after heavy storms, washouts, etc., and any repair work should be done as soon as possible. A maintenance, monitoring, and operations manual should be prepared; enabling a user to follow specific tasks on schedule and be alerted to contingency situations. The management of the system will be the key to the control of the gas. A knowledgeable person should be in chafige of the program and charged with the responsibility of fully understanding.the system design, construction, opera- tion, monitoring, maintenance, and repair. Other duties will include pre- paring the recommended operations, maintenance, and monitoring manual and training backup personnel.
