Sample Press Release for Local Government Day <br /> <br />Governor Albert H. Quie has proclaimed October 21 as Local Government Day. The <br />proclamation recognizes the role cities play in maintaining a high quality of <br />life in Minnesota and declares that local government provides a flexible and <br />responsible method of providing a wide range of services to Minnesota citizens. <br /> <br />The Governor also stated that city residents, volunteers, and city government <br />officials should be recognized for their contributions in meeting the needs of <br />the people. <br /> <br />Governor Quie urged citizens to learn more about local government and to find <br />ways for participating and becomi.ng actively involved. <br /> <br />In support of the Governor's proclamation, the mayor of the city of <br />proclaimed that the city will recognize the importance of city government in day-to- <br />day living by sponsoring the following activities: (Describe special events planned <br />for the day or week.) <br /> <br /> <br />
