Based on a satisfactory six~month appraisal, staff is recommending that Ms. <br />Okerstrom be retained as a regular Rdl-time permit teclmician. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Cook, recon-m-~ending that the City <br />Council adopt a resolution ending the probationary period, for Permit Technician Katy Okerstrom <br />and grant her status as a regular fktll-time employee effective August 10, 2004. <br /> <br />Motion camed. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Chairperson Cook, and Councitmember Kurak. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Consider Ending Probationary Period for Building Inspector <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed reviewed that .Andy Scbh'eder assumed the position of Building <br />Inspector on January 28, 2004, and his six-month probationary period has expired. His <br />perfmTnance has been reviewed· by the Bui.lding Official and has been documented as <br />satisfactory. Based on a satisl:actory six-month appraisal, staff is recorm:nending that Mr. <br />Sct-u'eder be retained as a regular full-time building inspector. <br /> <br />Motion by Counciimember Kurak, seconded by Mayor Gamec, recommending that the City <br />Council adopt a resolution ending the probationary period for Building Inspector Andy Schreder <br />and grant him status as a regular full-time employee effective July 28, 2004. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Chairperson Cook, and Councihnember Kurak. <br />· Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: Authorize Staff to Create an Eligibility List to Hire a Patrol Officer <br /> <br />City Administrator Nm-man asked that this item be postponed until a 2005 preliminary budget <br />could be created. He explained that although the money could be fbund in the 2004 budget, he <br />wanted to ensure that funding would be available ]tbr this position in the 2005 budget. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmernber Kurak, seconded by Mayor Gamec, recommending that the City <br />Council table this item until a 2005 preliminm'y budget could be created. <br /> <br />· Mayor Oamec inquired about the length of the hiring process. Human Resources Manager Reed <br />explained that Administration and the Police Department had deten'nined that t\tture recmitn'tents <br />fbr patrol officers would begin with a five-day internal posting, although this is not a labor <br />agreement requirement. If an internal candidate is not selected to fill a vacancy, the position <br />would then be advertised in the newspaper.
