MN _ 3_~t~o

I am writing at this time about the 'variance requested by Michael Merrier for his proposed
oara-e addition.

i have a few issues with this request. In a previous conversation with him, he admitted that
he does not have the funds to put siding on this new- addition and was planning on leaving
the building without siding for several' years, until the building permit expires_. My
concern' is two fold.., first I don't want to .stare at an unFinished'building for that long. My
second concen~ is, once it is built, what power does anyone have to make him put siding on
the now "completed" addition? This addition will be the closest building he has to the
road and i don't want an un£mished building visible from the road nor from my house.. [
sincerely hope that he will be required to build this attacl-u-nent to match the existing house.
! believe the3, have a Np roof'?.

Also, his front yard has become a sort of car junk yard. I believe he works on cars for
profit. Does he have'a permit to do so? Will this addition encourage him to have more
vehicles scattered throughout his front yard? Since he has moved into his house, the front
yard has looked unattractive, to say the-least. There are vehicles parked on the lawn.
miscellaneous other.things are scattered throughout the front yard. The front yard has a
junky appearance.

Won't the area of the out buildings be significantly bigger than the area of the house?

Also, where are the garage doors located on this addition.. Will he be driving in from the
lawn? I feel that if he is driving on the lawn, more vehicles will end up parked on the front
lawn. Can you as city officials do any thing to force him to Clean up the front yard7

[t sounds as though he is putting a business building in a residential area. There have been
so many changes in our irmnediate neighborhood. We are becoming more residential by
the minute. Th,is oversized building may have been acceptable 20 years ago, but now, it
will look incredibly out of place. Adding business buildings in a residential area is one
change that I think should not happen. [ also believe that there will be too many accessow
sm~ctures visible fi'om the 'front. The taller building also is disturbing. Being so much
ctoscr to tl~e road. this new, possibly not sided building will stick out.like a sore thumb.

[ would lilac to request that his variance is demed tmowing what I k~now about the intended
use o~' the building and the size and height of the building.

-265-
