CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Monday, September 13, 2004, at the <br />Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Police Chief James Way <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CAIJL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamcc called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. followed by <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced Happy Days will begin on Friday, September 17th with the youth <br />dance, followed by the events on Saturday, September 18th. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Betty Jolmston, 17501 Baugh Street NW, stated there are two Baugh Streets; one is south and has <br />a speed limit of 30 mph, and theirs is at the north end and has a speed limit of 55 mph. The <br />speed limit they have is the same as some freeways in the City and 5 mph less than on Highway <br />10. She is here to present the Council with a petition to reduce the speed limit on Baugh Street <br />fi'om CR 63 north to CR 22. She stated they have 16 homes that face the road on Baugh Street. <br />They have had a significant increase in traffic during the past year and it has become very unsafe. <br />She has seen slower speed limits on county roads in industrial and retail areas than what they <br />have on their residential street. They have some residents that have to cross the street to obtain <br />mail and newspapers. There is one gentleman who looks to see if any cars are coming, and by <br />the time he gets halfway across the street there is a car coming at him. There are children on the <br />shoulder and cars passing on the shoulder.
