Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #7: <br /> <br />Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed the Allotted Square Footage <br />for Accessory Buildings; Case of Eric Thomsen <br /> <br />Assistant Comlnunity Development Director Trudgeon indicated the City has received an <br />application fi'om Eric Thomsen for a Conditional Use Permit to exceed the maximum allowable <br />square footage for accessory buildings on properties 10.6 acres or greater in size as established in <br />City Code on the property located at 6210 Green Valley Road NW. The subject property is <br />approximately 60 acres in size and is located outside the Metropolitan Urban Service Area <br />(MUSA). According to City Code, the property is eligible for 5,664 square feet of accessory <br />building space. The applicant has a hobby farm on the subject property and needs additional <br />storage space. He is proposing to construct a pole building on the subject property that is 5,500 <br />square feet (50' x 110') in size. The proposed pole building would be utilized for agricultural <br />purposes to accommodate the storage of machinery, hay and grain. <br /> <br />Assistant Com~nunity Development Director Trudgeon explained the applicant's request would <br />result in an overage of 5,546 square feet. The City has approved similar requests in the past for <br />agricultural related activities. Several Conditional Use Permits to exceed the allotted square <br />footage for accessory structures related to agricultural uses have been approved with the overages <br />ranging fi'om 2,140 square feet to 26,395 square feet. The Planning Commission recommended <br />that City Council approve the request for a Conditional Use Permit. <br /> <br />Counci hncmber Cook questioned why this is not considered agricultural if it will be used for the <br />storage of agricultural equipment. <br /> <br />Assistant Commnnity Development Director Trudgeon replied it is regulated as an accessory <br />building. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to adopt Resolution #04- <br />09-272 to adopt Fieldings of Fact #0698 relating to Eric Thomsen's request for a Conditional Use <br />Permit to exceed the allotted square footage for accessory buildings. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Kurak, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman.
