Those discussions
took place May 18'~, June 22nd, and July 13, 2004. At the July 13, 2004 City Council meeting,
the ordinance proposing a salary increase for the Mayor failed on a tie vote. At the
recommendation of the City Administrator this item was discussed at the August 2, 2004
worksession. There was consensus that staff should present an ordinance proposing the
following annual salaries:
· $8,000 and $6,000 for the Mayor and City Council, respectively
· $8,500 and $6,500 for the Mayor and City Council, respectively

Human Resources Manager Reed indicated staff would like a motion on one of these proposals.
She noted this was not discussed in the Personnel Committee meeting, as it has already been
discussed by the full Council.

Mayor Gamcc stated it always comes under criticism when a Council raises its salaries. He has
no hard feelings of any councilmember or mayor that works hard for the City and the time that is
spent. In reviewing this he is going to step out of line in the order of the meeting. He explained
he has been meeting with business people throughout the City of Ramsey. There is a case
coming up regarding the franchise fee that was placed on gas and electric. He has reviewed a lot
of these fees and looked at what is going on. There was a sunset date of the first of the year for

City Council/August 10, 2004
