Motion b y C ouncilmember E lvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to recommend that the <br />City Council direct staff to obtain an easement on the Thorson property and pay them for the <br />easement so that the Thorson's can proceed with Alternative C. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Cook inquired as to who's responsibility it would be to <br />discuss with the property owner on 5821 regarding the drainage of water. City Engineer <br />Jankowski replied that as long as the City is paying for the easement only and the City is not <br />constructing the drainage line it would be a good idea for the Thorson's to inform them of what <br />they are doing. Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the City would only be obtaining <br />easements on 5821. City Engineer Jankowski replied yes. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Zimmerman, Councilmembers Elvig, and Cook. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Committee/Staff Input <br /> <br />1) Sanitary Sewer Comprehensive Plan Update <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson stated that they hope to receive the aerial photos and <br />topographical information in August. Staff is also planning on meeting with the Met Council to <br />discuss future capacity issues. <br /> <br />2) Ramsey Park and Ride <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson noted that the grant was extended for a year and the State <br />is offering more money if the City places the site in a permanent location. <br /> <br />3) Drainage Issue Update <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler explained that staff went out to the Obermaier <br />residents to verify that the technician from Walter Laboratories Inc., was on the site to do some <br />boring and water sample adjacent to the drain field, which they were. <br /> <br />Counci hnember Zimmerman inquired as to how long it would before they had the results. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that he would hope to have the results within <br />a week. The other drainage issue was the Weekly resident that was impacted by dewatering. The <br />dewatering activity has ended as of last week, which should reduce the water levels. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson inquired if the Public Works Committee wanted staff to <br />monitor the water level for a couple weeks. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig replied that he thought it would be a benefit for staff to watch the level <br />after thc dewatering activity. <br /> <br />Public Works Committee/July 15, 2003 <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
