Comprehensive Plan Amendment on December 18, 2001. The 2001 Comprehensive Plan <br />designates the subject property being used for Places to Shop. Edina Development is asking for <br />an amendment to the 2001 Comprehensive Plan to allow for a medium density residential project <br />on the property that would allow up to 7 units per acre. He explained that City Staff feels that <br />this is an appropriate location for multi-family residential development and therefore is <br />recommending approval of the comprehensive plan amendment to change the land use on the <br />subject property from commercial and single family uses to medium density residential uses. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Ko ciscak asked if the majority of the Council showed interest. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon replied that all members agreed that high density was too much. A <br />couple members were interested in considering a medium density designation. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Richard Kruger at 7640 150th Lane noted that the Council is in process of considering 11 land use <br />amendments to the Comprehensive Plan. He asked if this is one of the 11. <br /> <br />Principal Planner Trudgeon responded it is, though there are 13. The applicant has submitted a <br />separate application for a quicker response than waiting for the public hearing later in the month. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Sweet, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Kociscak, Commissioners Johnson, Sweet, Reeve, and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Nixt and Commissioner Brauer. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Vice Chair Kociscak called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at <br />8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Watson, to recommend that the <br />City Council adopt the resolution authorizing staff to submit the Comprehensive Plan <br />Amendment to Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Kociscak, Commissioners Johnson, Watson, Reeve, <br />and Sweet. Voting No: None.
