Annualized Operational Expenses: This project will require several different annual maintenance and budget commitments (such as electricity for irrigation). The average investment per year is estimated as follows: · Playground inspections, minor repair and litter pick up ~ 30 specific visits = 25 hours or .01 FTE's. · Landscape care and plant replacement estimated at .02 FTE's. · Irrigation operating expense $4,000 (2004 rate). · Bituminous overlay every 10 years $1,400 (2004 rate). Timing: Should the Finance Committee and City Council choose to proceed with this project, staff anticipates that grading and tree relocation can occur this fall - with the Discovery Garden ready for family use before the cessation of school in the spring of 2005.
