Today, at 10:40 am, the City of Ramsey became <br /> the new owner of the former Sunfish Lake Gas Station, located at 6401 Highway 10. The City <br /> purchased this vacant building for $645,000. Funding for the purchase comes from the MNDOT <br /> Funded, and Metropolitan Council administered, RALF Program. The City was awarded a <br /> $905,500 RALF loan. The extra dollars will be used to reimburse site investigation costs and the <br /> demolition/site cleanup. On Tuesday, June 6, <br /> 2017, Mayor Sarah Strommen signed the Mayors for Monarchs Pledge to support Monarch <br /> butterflies in our community by implementing efforts to protect pollinator habitat and encouraging <br /> our citizens to do the same in their own backyards. The pledge signing event also included the <br /> designation of a new "Monarch Trail" along the Lake Itasca Trail corridor in Ramsey. With the <br /> guidance of representatives from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, students from Youth First <br /> enjoyed planting a small section of native plant plus along the trail at this event. This plug planting <br /> was representative of the larger-scale pollinator habitat restoration that will come this fall. Fourth <br /> grade students from Ramsey Elementary also contributed to the event by creating 150 colorful <br />
