REGULAR 'C~TY OF RAMSEY CO~CIL MEETING <br /> <br />May 12, 1975 <br /> <br />, I <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:.30'p.m. by Mayor Cox. Present <br />were Mr. Gorham, Mr. Reimann, Mr. Mickelson and Mrs. Oliphant. Mr.. <br />Steffen and Attorney. Goodrich were also present.. <br /> <br />The pledge of allegiance was given to the flag, which was a gift <br />~rom Mrs. Charles Perkins. <br /> <br />Citizens Comments: Mr. Kempf read a letter from the~Ramsey Lions <br />Club to the Council. The Lions Club asked that the beer license <br />be given to the airport. The Lions Club retracted their request <br />for a beer license;. They said if the.air show just caused noir-e, <br />frightened livestock, caused traffic and policing problems and does <br />nothing for the City of Ramsey, there is no point in'having it in <br />Ramsey. A copy of the letter WaS sent to Richard Johnson of the <br />airport. There were no more citizens' comments. <br /> <br />Agenda Approval; Mr~ Reimann read the agenda. ~Mr.~Gorham move~ _ <br />we accept the minutes of the April 28th meeting as mailed. Seconded <br />by Mr. Gorham. Motion carried unanimouslY. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stated he had received a letter from Richard johnson <br />of the airport. He feels that the airshow has acquired a vested <br />property interest right to the beer license. He advised the Council <br />that the motion on April 28, 1975'to rescind the beer license granted <br />at theMar, lC, 1975 meeting was not appropriate and he advised the <br />Council not to abide by that motion. <br /> <br />Bev. Reed: He said he .had discussed ~the matter~of ~thechurch at <br />15218~Hemati~e. St. N.W.~with his attorney, Mr. Thurston and the <br />Spring Co. He said the ~residents were concerned about privacy, <br />exit traffic, day nursery and-the right~of~the ~church-to locate <br />here. They were planning .a day nursery.but have aborted.this idea <br />due to finances at the present time. They bought the property from <br />Mr. Bastin thru Lynn Clark of the Sp.ring Co. They told the neighbors <br />they would stay on their own i~oproperty. Rev. Reed said he is presi- <br />dent of the Baptist Missions of Minn. They have 11 families in this <br />congregation now, about 75 to 100 people. They have 14,O00 square <br />feet in the basement. They hav~ a young couple coming in for the <br />Summer to live here. In the future they may use this house as a <br />parsonage and they may build on other land in the central part of <br />Ramsey. Their services will be Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to <br />7:30 and Sundays from 9:30 to ll:30. Rev. Reed wanted to make it <br />clear that Mr. Thurston did not give him the right, that the court <br />did that by state law. Mr. Reimann asked him about fire insurance. <br />He said they had fire insurance. He said they mlght have 4-H meet- <br />ings there and that they were puttingin carpeting and a new ceiling <br />in the basement. They had no intention of demanding a blacktop streel <br /> <br />Mr. Cox asked Mr. Kempf about the preparation of the Lions Club Park <br />at the school.
