CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, August 24, 2004, <br />at the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CAI,L TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:55 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Consider Ramsey Town Center Lighting Fixture <br /> <br />Bruce Jacobson of Close Landscape and Architecture presented the Council with the new <br />lighting fixture standard that is being recommended for the Municipal State Aid roads of <br />Sunwood Drive, Rhinestone Street and Zeolite Street in Ramsey Town Center. He explained <br />they are very concerned about the quality of the light, and would like white light, which involves <br />a little more cost. The white light typically has a little shorter shelf life, but the color appears <br />truer, it is better for planting and those types of things, and is preferred in terms of safety and <br />security. He stated they want the source of the light to be elegant and somewhat thin, and not to <br />make too much of a statement. They are planning 12-foot poles in the park, 14-foot poles on <br />most of the streets, and 24-foot poles at the intersections. From Zeolite Street to Rhinestone <br />Street the poles will be predrilled for banners, which they want to be closer to the core. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/August 24, 2004 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
