MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

1) Trailer Park Sewer and Water Meeting

Mayor Gamec directed staff to schedule a meeting regarding the sewer and water at the Trailer
Park the week of October 4th in the afternoon. City Attorney Goodrich replied he received a
letter fi'om the attorney for the Trailer Park and they will be trying to schedule the meeting for
this Friday.

2) News Coverage of the Recent Tragedy in the City

Councilmember Elvig stated the coverage of Channel 9 News regarding the recent tragedy in the
City stated that the tragedy was due to rapid growth. He stated this is poor .journalism and is
misleading. The victims were long-term residents in the City, as was the shooter, and this had
nothing to do with growth in the City. If anything, the growth in the City has afforded more
positions on the police force. He inquired what action could be taken to reprimand the news
channel. Mayor Gamec commented when you start dealing with reprimanding the news media
you will deal with more than you are looking for. This should be handled on a local basis, and he
is very proud of the way Chief Way and his staff have handled this situation.

3) Transportation Issues

Mayor Gamec directed staff to put more pressure on the Highways 47 and 10 Corridor study. He
requested they look into any alternative routes for Highway 47 and information regarding any
future plans to relocate the Anoka County Fairgrounds. Councilmember Zimmerman suggested
a citizens group be formed to assist with this.

4) Parking Lot Resurfacing at Superbowl

Mayor Gamec reported Superbowl is newly remodeled and would like to resurface their parking
lot. Thc City policy states that in order to resurface the parking lot they have to install curb and
gutter and meet other requirements. They would like to get the resurfacing done as soon as they
can. He inquired what can be done to move things along, and if the improvements might be able
to be staged. Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon suggested this be discussed
at a worksession. There needs to be a policy for other situations like this because they have
struggled over the years to have people work within the ordinance.

5) Fire Department Events

City Administrator Norman announced there will be an exhibit of the new fire truck on Tuesday,
October 5th between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Public Works Director Kapler announced the Fire Department will host an open house in the
name of Fire Prevention Week October 9th at Fire Station No. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

City Council/September 28, 2004
