<br />8.Permits <br />The Contractor will be required to obtain a <br /> <br /> <br />9.Barricades, Guards and Safety Equipment <br />To protect persons from injury and to avoid property damage, adequate barricades, construction <br />signs, warning lights, and guards as required shall be placed and maintained by the contractor <br />during the progress of the construction work. All material piles, excavation equipment, and <br />materials which may serve as obstructions to traffic or hazards shall be enclosed by fences or <br />barricades and shall be protected by adequate lighting when visibility is poor. The rules and <br />regulations of local authorities respecting safety provisions shall be observed. <br /> <br /> <br />10.Preconstruction Conference Required <br />Prior to initiating the work a preconstruction conference shall be scheduled and held with the <br />contractor and his subcontractors, the City, utility companies (including fiber optic lines) or others <br />with an interest in the project. The Contractor shall submit documentation for review at the <br />preconstruction conference which: identifies construction personnel responsible for the work and <br />project safety; provides a list of emergency or after hour contacts with their afterhours phone <br />numbers; and identifies subcontractors and material suppliers. The Contractor shall prepare and <br />submit a written schedule of the work, identifying work components and showing work start and <br />completion dates required to comply with the schedule in the contract documents. The Contractor <br />shall prepare and submit a list of material submittals that are required to comply with specified <br />standards and will submit certificates of compliance or a schedule for compliance submittal. <br />No work is authorized on the project until the Notice to Proceed is issued. Once work has <br />commenced, the Contractor shall continuously pursue completion in accordance with the approved <br />schedule. <br /> <br /> <br />11.Construction Staking <br />Construction staking shall be provided by the City Engineering department. The Contractor shall <br />provide a 48 hour notice for initial grade stakes and 24 hour notice for replacement stakes. All <br />replacement staking shall be paid for by the Contractor. <br /> <br /> <br />12.Protection of Utilities <br />The Contractor is advised that utilities which include electric, gas, telephone, cable TV, fiber optic <br />lines, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain are located within or near the project area <br />anticipated for excavation. It is the Contractor <br />respective utility companies. It is understood that no additional compensation shall be due the <br />SP 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
