Mrs. McManigle stated they a~eed to purchase the property only if it can be rented out. She
stated they live twenty miles away and have purchased other property which they have up~'aded.

Mr] Louis Abendroth, 15810 Sodium Street, stated he was against this because he previously
lived in a city where they built rental properties and had .to move because of the foul language
and things going on that were not good for their children. He stated they moved to Ramsey to
get away from this. He explained the property is zoned R-l, which is residentiaI. He stated he
did not like it and did hot want rental.

Mrs. McManigle stated she would like to offer her phone number if this sale goes through in case
there are problems.

Mr. James LaDonnelt asked if the building will remain as is.

Mrs. McManigle stated it would remain as is.

Ms. Audrey Mars stated the new owners will probably build an apartment on the land next do6r.

Ms. Myrna Borsey, REMax, stated this property is 3.8 acres.

Mrs. Jacquetine Abendroth asked if this is the only alternative to selling the property. She
wondered why they can't sell this as is.

Mrs. Abendroth Stated she would rather have the owner living on the property also.

Mr. Tim Atkinson, 15811 Sodium, stated they just moved out of Minneapolis because of their
children. He would like the City to expand on the rental policy and he wondered if there are
back~ound checks and long term renting required so there is not so many transients.

Ms. Geisler explained the new rental policy in the City of Ramsey.

Mr. Atkinson asked if the City could require back~ound checks on renters.

Ms. Geisler did not think the City could get involved in that because of liability issues.

MS. Abendroth asked how often the rental license would be checked.

Ms. Geisler stated it is checked eve~ two years.

· Mrs. McManigle stated there are other properties around there. She stated there was discussion
about turning this home back into. a single family home and this was never a single family home,
it has always been two homes with two furnaces.

Mr. Abendroth stated the house was originally built as a single home.

P16

Planning Commission/OctOber 7, 2004
