2) Transportation Meetings Mayor Gamec announced he attended a joint meeting on the Highway 10 corridor. Highway 10 is not included in the systems plan, but the bridge crossing between Dayton and Ramsey is included. They are asking to get the Highway 10 corridor and Highway 47 in the plan for the following year. There is a lot of support for this from the county. Mayor Gamec announced on September 16'h there will be a Highway 10 meeting at 5:00 p.lTl, at the Sherbume County Government Center set up by the Highway 10 Corridor Coalition. Councilmember Elvig announced the final meeting with the Met Council will be held on September 2Th. He indicated it would be good if the City is strongly represented in that meeting. Councilmember Zimmerman requested an update from the Tinklenberg Group on their work. 3) Intersection of Alpine Drive and-Sunfish Lake Boulevard Councilrnember Kurak indicated she has received a couple of phone .calls regarding the intersection of Alpine Drive and Sunfish Lake Boulevard. Public Works Director Kapler has been working with Anoka County regarding cutting back the trees on Sunfish Lake Boulevard, which should help the sight line. He is also working with Anoka County regarding the possibility of a stop sign on each side of Sunfish Lake Boulevard on Alpine Drive. Public Works Director Kapter explained there have been several accidents at this intersection. The County has indicated they will take the trees down to ~'ound level, and the sight tine should be addressed within three weeks to 30 days. They will also be installing double stop signs. They had the same type of situation with kamsey Boulevard and Alpine Drive, with people blowing tl-u'ough stop signs. At this intersection it seems people are not stopping for the sign. Staff will be asking the County for approval to install some temporary stop signs on the left side of the road approaching the intersection, as welt as a "Cross traffic does not stop" sign below the stop sig-n, and reflective material all the way down the post of the stop sign. Staff is trying to work tb~'ough the County, but will be requesting pen-nission to put up temporat~ signs on their own. Mayor Gamec con'nnented there are also other intersections in the City that should be addressed. The intersections of Ramsey Boulevard and Alpine Drive, Highway 47 and Alpine Drive, 159th Avenue and Ramsey Boulevard, and Armstrong Boulevard and Alpine Drive are all getting to be major intersections. All of these intersections along this corridor should be looked at. Public Works Director Kapler indicated the issue of the intersections will be discussed with the Public Works Committee. Ho~vever, the intersection of Alpine Drive and Sunfish Lake Boulevard will still be aggressively pursued. The Weekly Update wilt be utilized for further updates.
