The 1976 Matador has been placed onto the day shift where it will put on less and easier miles. It should then, be able to serve as a city staff car at the end of 1980. We continue to have disappointing results in nut efforts ~o interest the citi- zens in participating in Minnesota Crimewatch. The training mannequins for CPR have been getting good use by Officer Anderson through the community school CPR classes but our Crimewatch officers, Eason and Kuhn have only ha~, one Crimewatch class and that was more of a general nature with the JayCeeso Iron- ically it seems that many times when we answer a call of vandalism, theft or burglary and start asking around the neighborhood some homeowner will state that he or she heard a noise or noticed a car hanging around but didn't think to call the police. We have spent several hundred dollars trying to get the citizenry interested in home and neighborhood protection . Unfortunately in- terest will rise as burglaries and thefts begin their warm weather increase but that wLll be like locking the barn door, etc. etc. We are still awaiting the .arrival of the flash unit to complete our photo- graphy equipment at which time we will ask for formal city recognition of the Lions Club donation.
