City Administrator
Background:
Due to the addition of several positions that will office out of City Hall, staff has
solicited a proposal from Intereum, Inc. for additional work stations for the Human
Resources Technician, Engineering Technician and an additional position in Finance.
The proposal is available at City Hall for your review and this request reflects an amount
of not to exceed $1.5,500. The proposal includes the addition of four fully equipped
workstations and 3 additional flat files for Engineering for storage of plans.
The new HR Technician position is included in the 2005 budget, but was
authorized to be hired at the end of 2004 to assist with recruitment and the impending
leave of the HR Manager, The Engineering Technician has been on board since early
spring; however a workstation was never created in the Engineering Department because
the majority of his work was in the field for the summer months. During the winter
months, the Engineering Technician positions work in the office on mapping and CAD
projects necessitating a workstation for this employee. The new Finance staff member is
part of the 2005 preliminary budget and with the approval of the 2005 budget, will be
recruited for in early 2005. With these additional work stations, we will be at full
capacity & very tight on the main floor of City Hall. Any additional positions added at
City Hall may require a Department to relocate to the lower level of City Hall.
Staff Recommendation:
Authorize the use of Council Contingency funds for four workstations and flat files for
Engineering at City Hall in an amount not to exceed $15,500.
Council Action:
Approve resolution no. 04-11-XX, Authorizing the use of Council Contingency funds in
an amount not to exceed $15,500 for the purchase and installation of workstations and
flat files at City Hall.
Reviewed by:
City Administrator
Finance Officer
CC: 11 /09/2004
