However, after inclusion of the <br /> Council requested three custom questions, the net number of questions is approaching the <br /> number within the original survey. <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Brama read the three custom questions and indicated the <br /> wording of the questions can be tweaked, if desired. He then addressed the demographic <br /> questions contained at the end of the survey and explained that NRC found those questions were <br /> critical as they assured the statistical significance of the survey. <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Brama stated a notification postcard will be sent to alert <br /> residents that a survey will be coming, a letter will be sent with the survey, and a reminder letter <br /> with a second survey will be sent reminding residents to complete and return the survey. He <br /> stated postage will be paid so there will be no cost to residents to return the survey. Assistant to <br /> the City Administrator Brama stated if residents prefer, the option is available to complete the <br /> survey on line. He offered to answer questions of the Council and indicated this is a preliminary <br /> survey so this item will be back before the Council at a future meeting. <br /> Councilmember Backous asked how a resident will access the on-line survey and whether a <br /> password would be required. <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Brama stated he will have to get more information on that <br /> process but knows that only one reply can be received per address. He stated residents will be <br /> notified of this option through the mailed letter. <br /> Mayor Strommen asked if someone at City Hall will be able to answer questions of the resident <br /> related to the survey. <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Brama stated a staff person will be designated to answer <br /> survey related questions and telephone inquiries. <br /> Councilmember Riley stated he thinks the length of the survey is good. He noted Questions 4 <br /> and 6 refer to "Ramsey downtown/commercial." Councilmember Riley stated he supports both <br /> questions but thinks each should be worded differently. <br /> Mayor Strommen stated a question asks whether residents feel safe in their neighborhood during <br /> the day. She suggested the questions include how residents feel during the evening. She stated, <br /> perhaps, both questions should be asked. <br /> Councilmember Riley suggested adding a space after each question so the responder could write <br /> in a response. He noted the Strategic Plan is not raised in any question and suggested a Strategic <br /> Plan question be included in the area of Question 12. Councilmember Riley noted that Question <br /> 7 may warrant a response to provide additional information. He stated Question 10 includes <br /> information that the City has no control over (ambulance service, recycling, garbage service) so <br /> he would ask whether they should be included.
