<br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Monday, March 3, 2007, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> Councilmember John Dehen <br /> Councilmember David Elvig <br /> Councilmember Matt Look (arrived at 6:15 p.m.) <br /> Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br /> Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Members Absent: Councilmember David Jeffrey <br />Also Present: City Administrator Kurt Ulrich <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi A. Nelson <br /> Associate Planner Breanne Dalnes <br /> City Clerk Jo Thieling <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:47 p.m. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />1) Discuss Blue Cross Blue Shield Additional Grant Opportunities <br />Associate Planner Dalnes stated that previously, the City has received grant monies of $35,000 <br />from Blue Cross Blue Shield, to incorporate active living in the Comprehensive Plan. She stated <br />that with this money, staff has completed a health impact assessment and is proposing including <br />a community health and wellness chapter in the next Comprehensive Plan She stated that Blue <br />Cross Blue Shield has released another RFP to fund communities in their PreventionMinnesota <br />campaign, which will dig a little deeper into promoting active living, such as ways of getting <br />people to walk or bike more and to recreate at parks on a daily basis. She reviewed the 5P’s of <br />the PreventionMinnesota program: 1) Partnerships; 2) Promote active living; 3) Programs <br />geared toward active lifestyles, such as the current “Do” campaign; 4) Policy analysis; and 5) <br />Planning and engineering.
